Australian Army Bell UH-1H Iroquois A2-296 msn 13296 arrived RAAFA Bull Creek Museum earlier this week and was placed on static display (as seen here above) The helicopter is still in immaculate condition and seemingly complete down to grey lamb’s wool seat covers, seat belts, instrumentation etc. It wears the green/tan/black camouflage scheme, RAAF ARDU emblem in black on the nose and black ARMY titles on the fuselage as it last served in dual markings with ARDU. It’s the centrepiece of a Vietnam ...era diorama displayed in a sandbagged revetment and a large background mural of Hueys flying over the jungle. 60s music and the occasional distinctive “wokka wokka” sound playing over loud speakers really completes the scene. The Huey looks magnificent and is a credit to all concerned.
