Qantas and South African Airways (IASC)

Qantas has dropped its judicial review proceedings over the refusal of International Air Services Commission (IASC) to grant codeshare approval with South African Airways.

The IASC has invited Qantas to submit a new application for authourisation of the code share 'a spokesperson said' Qantas will submit a new application shortly.

South African Airways will add an additional Perth to Johannesburg flight from August 16th, taking it to daily services, in what the carrier described as a 'sign of confidence' in the Australian travel market.

SAA's country manager Australasia Mr.Tim Clyde-Smith said the decision was based on increased travel to Africa, along with growing numbers opting to fly to Europe, South America and the USA via South Africa.
